Excited to report that in-person Special Olympics practices will begin on Sunday, May 23, 2021, from 10 to 11:30 am, in Central Park. We will be doing calisthenics and a modified track / soccer program. We currently have to abide by very strict COVID protocols. Therefore, we are only able to have 14 athletes at the first two practices (May 23 and May 30).
Because we currently have extremely limited availability, athletes who are interested in attending practice in person must send an email to specialolympics212@gmail.com to reserve a spot. You can only register for one week at a time to ensure that more athletes are able to participate. Merely sending the email does not guarantee that you can come. Instead, if there is still availability, you will receive an email which contains the specific location in Central Park for the practice and other relevant information. Sorry to be so secretive about the location but unfortunately at this time we cannot allow people who just show up to participate in practice. 😦
Unfortunately we are also unable to accommodate volunteers at our in-person practices at this time. However, athletes and volunteers are still absolutely welcome to join us each Sunday from 11 am to 12:30 pm at our Zoom practices, which will continue indefinitely.
The Zoom Meeting ID is 386 628 027 and password is 12345.

Hopefully, if the COVID numbers keep declining, we will be able to have up to 50 people in person (total number of athletes and coaches / volunteers combined), starting on Sunday, June 6th!
Athletes still must have valid medical forms and comply with all COVID protocols. Here is a link for the medical form that must be completed by a medical professional before any athlete can participate in Special Olympics. SONY med consent blank new form 2019. Medical forms are only valid for three years. However, Special Olympics is extending that deadline by six months because of the pandemic. Therefore, if an athlete’s medical form was signed by their doctor less than three and a half years ago, it is still valid. However, we recommend that all medical forms get updated ASAP.
Please email PDFs of completed forms to SpecialOlympics212@gmail.com or fax to (212) 319-6657. Always retain a copy.
Please contact Erica at specialolympics212@gmail.com if you have any questions.
Wishing everyone a safe and happy return to relative normalcy!
